Anxiety is never a good thing for the human body and it leads to serious behavioral and physiological disorders. Again, with the times changing rapidly, it has become a norm of the day to begin our day with the goal of running against time. This battle against time is adding to our anxiety level. But, if you are focused and willing then you can certainly keep anxiety at bay. There are many things that you can do to keep your anxiety levels low and healthy. Here follows a few of them:
- Identify your stress sources: the first and the most basic step to reduce the anxiety are to identify the things or situations that add to your stress level. Identification means that you can consciously keep your stress level low by avoiding those particular things or situations.
- Plan things in advance: in this era of rapid progress, it is but natural that people at your workplace or even at home would expect you to multitask. Here lies the catch wherein your anxiety level increases manifold as you try to do multitasking and manage time. A proper planning well in advance would be of great help if you wish to complete your entire to- do list and remain stress free.
- Meditation: meditating for a few minutes when you are feeling anxious can help you calm down and re- gain your focus. Practicing simple exercises and Yoga for around 15 minutes every day helps you to cope with stress and anxiety in a much better manner. With regard to this, it must be noted that even walking is a good exercise.
- Conscious deep breathing: another great way to beat the stress is to do conscious deep breathing. This simple exercise helps you to increase the oxygen supply in your body particularly to the brain. This helps in relaxing the otherwise agitated nerves and blood vessels thereby making you feel relaxed.
- Self- introspection: self- introspection or in other words questioning your own thoughts is a great way of tackling stress and anxiety. Once you engage in this much needed activity you are able to achieve two things at the same time and simultaneously. Firstly, you get to revise and re-visit your plans and your actions which would help you to rectify and improve upon them. This simple act of self- introspection would also help you to monitor whether you are developing negative thoughts which is extremely detrimental and certainly feeds your anxiety.
Well, you have to acknowledge the fact the living in the present generation can never be stress free. It is up to each individual how he wants to keep anxiety at bay and lead a healthy life.
